Would you be Interested?

So.  I have a few new ideas for my blog and one of them would be posting about my Lolita wardrobe.  I don't have a huge collection but I do have quite a bit.  I always enjoy looking at other girls Lolita goodies and thought perhaps you ladies (and maybe gentlemen) would like to see my stuff.  Does this sound good to you?
I also would like to let you guys see my sewing room and my jewelry making stuff.  When my husband and I were looking for places to live one of the important things I needed was a sewing room.  Does this also sound the least bit entertaining to you?

Daily Lolita Highlight- Psycho Shoujo

Most of the time when I do a daily Lolita highlight I am a little jealous, a healthy amount of jealous.  These girls (and hopefully soon some guys) are my favorites who I feel do just a great job and have a certain something that makes them special.  And that makes me a little envious and it also makes me want to be a better Lolita.  This Lolita is not different and perhaps I am even more jealous of this one.  She has an air about her that is just lovely.
Psycho Shoujo  posted her pictures from her trip to Ireland and more specifically, Dublin on St. Patty's Day.  Ireland is in the top part of my list of the countries that I would absolutely love to visit.  For some reason I feel all the people in Ireland are super friendly and kind.  I absolutely know this is not the case but I can dream.  I applaud her for not wearing all green outfits just because she is in Ireland on St. Patty's Day.  Her classic modest skirts with Gothic crosses match and embody the strong religious ties Ireland has.
I know black and white are not quite as popular as they used to be together but I love they was she has put them and herself together.  Her killer Demonia shoes (which I totally want to steal) look amazing with her corset style designed socks.  One of my favorite parts of her outfit is her headdress which she made herself.  I obviously make and wear most of the jewelry and accessories that I wear so I just love it when girls do the same.  There is something very special about a handmade piece, especially when you make it yourself.
Her long cherry coke hair and simple black eye shadow and eyeliner allow you to really appreciate her outfit.   There are times for super fun make up that is a bit over the top and sometimes you have to make it a little quieter.  I believe she made the right choice.
Along with her black and white outfit she also wore a great red Meta JSK.  She has a way of putting herself together.  She has lovely quiet outfits that are still very interesting to look at and smartly combined.
Perhaps one day I can stand in Dublin in my cute and smart Lolita dresses just  like Psycho Shoujo.  I doubt I will be quite as lovely as her though.

Cookies, Donuts, Chocolate, Pastries, and Other Yummy Charms

I just got a new batch of charm making supplies so I went to town and made oodles of yummy charms.  Delicious!
I will be making these into cute rings, necklaces, and bracelets.  I I going to do a big Egl Sales post with them along with some Lolita clothes that I no longer need within the next several day.  Perhaps you will be able to pink up some cute things.

More Salt Lake City Business

On Sunday I spent the day shopping with my mother and we had a great time walking around the outside mall that was in SLC.  We had a few things that we needed to buy like gifts for people back home, new cell phones, and some more sweets.  There were several shops that had some cute things but most were completely not me.  I found some cute huge purses and a killer bed that I loved.
One of the best shops we went to was a cooking and baking supply shop kind of like Williams and Sonoma.  They had the best baking section.  I would have killed to  have a shopping spree in the shop.  Their stuff was so cool and so expensive.  I spotted a browning/cookie tin that was small individual wells for each cookie that were in the shape of tiny castles and flowers.  It was very heavy and I know it would last you your whole life but it was $38.00.  Not a thrifty purchase at all.  Here are a couple shots of the walls of baking goodies.
I spent most of my free time walking around the city and when I was not doing this I was sleeping or getting ready in the hotel room.  The room had a nice vanity to sit at so I spent a good portion of my time in at the vanity doing my hair and makeup.  I brought my tiny lappy with me to SLC so i watched tons of WildBoyz.  I love those guys.  They are so funny.
On Sunday night, our last night in SLC, we went across the street to the Grand America Hotel to get dinner around 9:30pm.  I got a chicken Cesare salad and my mother got a Cobb salad.   They were both very yummy.  On the way out we passed the hotels sweets shop and a window they had set up all pretty and I spotted something, Macarons!!!
We went back to the same cafe for breakfast and I was able to purchase a bag of macarons from the shop.  I have not opened them yet because I want to share them with everyone so I am going to save them for this weekend.
I wore my new Salt Lake City Dress a couple of times and I got a lot of comments and looks when I was walking around.  Some good, some bad, and some just strange.  I forgot my petticoat so it is not nearly as puffy as I would like but it does a not bad job on its own.  I will take more and better pictures of it.  I am quite happy with how it came out.

I am going to have to get my total haul all together and see if I stayed under my $65 budget.  I know it will be really close.  OK girly girls, I think that is it.  I hope hope you enjoyed my trip pictures.

Yummy Treats and Good Reads in Salt Lake City

Since I have had a lot of time to just walk around and do my own thing I have been googling things to do and shops to see.  Yesterday I went to a sweet shop called Taffy Town and bought some goodies.  I of course got 1 pound of taffy, Giant Gummy Bears, and candy covered sun flower seeds.  All together it cost me just under $9.00.  I am going to bring the taffy home for my husband and our friends.
I also went to Mini's Cupcakes but I forgot to take pictures and I also dropped the box of cup cakes on the way home so I didn't take any pictures.  I will go back tomorrow and hopefully have a more successful trip. I spent $8.00 on the cupcakes and a water because it was so flippin hot.  I really love to read so I sought out books stores.  The first day I got going a little late so a lot of the shops were closed so I went to the outdoor mall and the Barnes and Nobel and found a good buy.  I got a hard cover Gorillaz book on the band.  Only $7.99.  The Gorillaz are amazing.
Yesterday I went to a local book store that specializes in rare and hard to find books.  Same Wellers look smallish from the outside but it was HUGE on the inside.  I only took a couple pictures so I have to go back.  I want to do a walk around video of the whole shop.  I found the Fairy Tale section of the shop and had a great time looking at all of the books.  I bought Once Upon A Time,  which has several fairy tales, Aesops Fables, and classic stories.  It cost me $15.00. Not bad.   It is an origianl printing and has that great old book smell to it.
So far I have only spent $8.00 on the Gorillaz book, $8.00 on the cupcakes, $15.00 on the fairy tale book, $9.00 of the candy, and $1.75 on a Dr. Pepper before I got back to the hotel.  All together $42.00.  I might have to dip into my bank account if I want to buy anything big.
I walked around the hotel and took some pictures.  The hotel has a color palette of golds, oranges, reds, and yellows.  There is a gold glow to the entire place.  The outside of the hotel is surrounded my green.  There are trees, bushes, and flowers everywhere.

This last shot is wore today, Saturday, during the day.  I have been using a parasol anytime that I go out in the sun.  I am one of those people who just burn.  I can go in the sun for 10 minutes and I will be pink.
I have more plans for tonight including meeting up with anther Lolita and having her show me around and then going to a bash.  I will be wearing my blue Salt Lake City dress that I made just for this trip so I will be sure to take many pictures.  See you soon.

Good Times and Good Food in Salt Lake City

So, I have been in SLC for exactly one day and boy have I done a bit.  I walked around yesterday and found my way to an outside mall.  I rode the wrong trolley back to my hotel so I went too far and a bit to the right.  That is ok, I just rode the next one back and walked the rest.  Below is the mall and  the big weird hall before the mall.  There is nothing in it.  It is just a big room, a big air conditioned room though.
After I checked out the mall I went to dinner to a surf and turf restaurant and I had some yummy steamed clams and crab stuffed mushrooms.  I got 2 appetizers instead of an entree because I wanted clams and none of the dinners had them.  I made the right choice, the clams were amazing.  Here is a before and after shot of our plates and the busy people eating and waiters waiting.
It was a great meal and I was very happy and my tummy was very happy as well.
Yesterday I had a bit of trouble with the 2 hour time difference but today I am adjusted, I think.  I woke up around 9am and spent the morning chilling in my hotel room just ironing my dresses, watching Wild Boyz, and doing my hair and make-up.
This afternoon I did a bit  and still have more plans for tonight.  We are going to dinner at 7 and then we are watching a skiing show.  It is going to be held in the middle of the outdoor mall so I am interested in seeing that.  I am sure I will have more pics tomorrow.  Also, I went to Minis Cupcakes.

Salt Lake City!

I am there!  After 3 flights and a couple delays I am now settled into my hotel room and hooked up to the free wi-fi.  (Yea for internet!)  I enjoy flying but I think I did a bit too much of it today.  1 flight is fun, 2 is OK, and 3 is too much for me.  That's a lot of up and down. I am staying at the Little America Hotel which is quite nice.  I will take some pics and post them for you guys.
As of right now I only know 2 things about SLC.  I know about the  movie SLC Punk and love it.  I am a huge Matthew Lillard fan.  I also know there is a cupcake shop that I want to check out, Mini's Cupcakes.
Mmmmmmmm.  Cupcakes.  I am very excited to eat those sweet yummies.
Alright, it is about time I got ready and got familliar with my surroundings.  I have a bad sense of direction so I have a feeling I might get a little lost a couple times but that is alright seeing as I am not going to go very far today.  Wish my luck!

Going to Salt Lake City on the Cheap

I fly out to Salt Lake City tomorrow at 6:30 in the morning (I do not like getting up early and I have to get up a 4am, yuck).  Last night I rolled all of my change from my piggy bank (yes I am 27 and still use a piggy bank) and from my car and I rolled about $100.  Not bad, eh?  I decided to not take all of the money I rolled.  I am going to bring $65 and put the rest in my savings account.  I am going to make a kind of game out of not having too much money and traveling.  5 days on $65.  Can I do it?
I am going to SLC for a YMCA conference so there are certain meals that are comped and certain events that are free.  This will help me spend less and have more money for shopping and goodies.  I will posting pictures all weekend and revealing my dress that I just finished.  There are a few changes to the dress but I am quite happy with it and can't wait to show it off.  I just hope it travels well.  I have to pack everything into a small-medium suitcase.
I found a Lolita who lives in SLC and offered to show me around a bit so I am super excited to see what she likes in the city.  It is nice to know a local so they can show you smaller shops and perhaps things that you would never see otherwise.
Keep checking back this weekend to see my pictures and finds.  Hopefully I will have a great flight that is safe and fast,

Salt Lake City Dress

Next weekend I am visiting Salt Lake City Utah and I would like a new dress to wear in the city.  I came up with a design last night and now i have just got to sew sew sew.  I leave on Thursday so I have 6 days to make it.  I hope I can get it done in time.  I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my designs so it takes me a little to get things done.
It is going to be a pretty light blue color and white.  I want to add lots of lace and lots of embroidery.  Here is what I came up with last night.  It most likely won't be exactly like the illustration.  My designs usually evolve a little through the process.
