What is Lolita to You?

I have been working really hard on a Lolita project which I am very excited about.  From this day forward I will refer to it as the Lolita Project.  With the Lolita Project I will be asking my readers their opinions a lot.  I really hope that you want to share.
The first thing that I wan to know is what is Lolita to YOU.  I know the definition and the explanation we give to people who ask what Lolita is but I want your feeling and thoughts on Lolita.
How does it make you feel?  Why do you love it?  What is it to you?
Please note that I might quote you and use the name that is linked to your comment so keep that in mind.  If you don't want to be quoted please just make a note after your comment that you would prefer not to be.
So, lay it on me and let me know how you feel.

My Christmas Wish List

I won't be getting anything Lolita for Christmas and that is okay.  I don't really need more Lolita clothing.  I have more than enough.    But, in an amazing world where every thing is perfect and I could get whatever I wanted for Christmas these are some of the things I would ask Santa to bring me.
I love a nice high waited skirt.  The light chiffon looks so floaty.  I have an Ita dress that I bought when I first started wearing Lolita.  It has a really nice skirt and a not so nice top.  I want to cut it in half and make a skirt very similar to the one above.  You can see more about the skirt here.

Another high waisted skirt. This print is sooooooo cute.  The window and cat really caught my eye.  More here.
This blouse is very flattering.  The off the shoulder lace ruffle and small vertical pleats running down the front of the bodice make this blouse something special.  Take a peek at more pictures here.
Everything in the above picture is great except for the stripey socks.  (They make me think of Halloween).  I can picture wearing this outfit on a nice breezy day. The lace and frills blowing around around me.  It makes me want Spring to come around faster.  Click here to see more pictures of this blouse.
Okay.  This outfit is pretty much a dream outfit for me.  I am sure a lot of us can remember when this was on the cover of the Gothic and Lolita Bible.  You can get it for a fraction of the price at Kids Yoyo.  Look at it!  It is prefect.  The pink.  The buttons.  The little crowns along the skirt.
There is nothing that I can say about this.  I just love it.  Pics

Quick Macaron Book Look

Back in June I bought a cute macaron book or at least I thought I did.  Well, I did buy it but I didn't pay attention and I pre-ordered it.  Oops.  I just figured, "No big deal.  It will just get to me later in the year and it will most likely be a surprise because I will forget about it.".  And forget about it I did.  On egl today, someone posted about there being a new macaron book and it was the same one I pre-ordered.  I checked the tracking on Amazon and BOOM, it was waiting in the mailbox.
I haven't really gotten a good sit down with it but it looks to be full of recipe, flavors, tips, and ideas.  It is small book, around 6x6 inches.  It is in full color with glossy pages.  There are loads of great pictures that show you the different flavors and different ways to decorate.
I have another macaron cook book and I am excited to see how they differ and what the ones from my new book taste like compared to the old book's.  Here are a few quick shot of the inside.  Once I make some I will have to take pictures of those and let you know how they came out.

What I got my Husband for Christmas.....

Okay.  Christmas is one of absolute favorite holidays.  There is just something about the snow, decorations and tree, the carols and songs, everyone wishing you "Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas", and the meetings with friends and family.  Last Christmas was not a great one so I am hoping this one will be extra fun and happy to make up for it.
I love Christmas and I love giving presents to my husband so giving him his Christmas gifts is one of the best things in the whole world.  I wrap all of the presents in coordinating wrapping paper and make them look pretty.  Watching him open them and waiting to see his face is awesome.
We are a pretty geeky couple and like a lot of things like Dr. Who, video games, anime, science, and drawing.  He does not read my blog so it is pretty darn safe to be posting his gifts on here.  I would just like to share the goodies that I got him.  Some are under the tree and waiting to be opened and some are on their way to the house to be wrapped.
The Lost Room is a mini seriese that was on the Sci Fi channel.  I highly recommend it.  I got him the whole six episode series on DVD.  We both are big Bruce Campbell fans so I got him the Evil Dead II Blue Ray.  It is his favorite out of the 3 and he doesn't have any of them.
These two books are from Thinkgeek.  They are both cute little books that have facts, intersting tid bits, and other fun things.
I got him the Astronaut Ice Cream because we were talking about elementary school field trips and I mentioned going to a space museum and eating the ice cream and he said he had never had it and I was amazed.  We are big tea drinkers.  He really likes getting the good stuff and Adagio is a great company.

Dr. Who is amongst our favorite shows and I have gotten him Dr. Who  things in the past.  So, I got him  more things.  A cool Dr. flashlight and a quiz book.  I looked through the book quickly and some of the questions are really hard.  It will be fun answering them together.  Lastly, the Dr. Who TARDIS shirt.  He has really gotten into shirts with graphics on them.
Most gift giving times I get him a mug. This year it is from Team Fortress 2.  It is a really fun game to play together.  I got him a lego blind box that is cute characters so it will be a surprise to see which one he gets.  The plushes.  I just watched the 3 Lord of the Rings movies in 3 days and he didn't say a word about it being annoying so I got him a little Frodo.  I love his hair!

My husband (I have got to give him a fake name on here so i don't just say my husband every time)  really likes robots.  So I got him a robot ice cube tray, robots stencil set, and a robot ornament for the tree.  Every Christmas I get him an ornament so this years one will be his 8th or 9th.  It will be a very full tree when we are 70.

These last two gifts are his big ones.  My style of gift giving is to give a lot of small and medium sized ones and then 1 or 2 big ones.  Both of these books were only about $40 so I got him both instead of just one.  The first is an amazing how to draw dragons book.  he say this in the Barnes & Nobel in the summer so I made a note to get it for him now.  It will be a big surprise.  He really wanted it in the summer but he didn't want to spend that much money on himself so I wanted to get it for him.
I don't know if any of you are familiar with The Walking Dead graphic novel.  It is now a show as well and them are so good.  He read the comic on his computer but does not have any of of the comics or graphic novels.  I got him the 1st compendium which has the first 46 comics.  It is huge!  It is over 1000 pages.  He doesn't like to read books but he does like to read comics so I like to get them for him.
By the looks of these gifts you would not think that we are in our upper 20's.  But, I like that.  We like fun things and things that make us smile.  I know what I am getting from him because I have been asking for it for just about the whole year.  He got me a Kindle because I LOVE to read.  I can't wait to get it, download a bunch of books, and read read read.
What did you get your significant other?  If not your significant other what did you get for your family and friends?

Daily Lolita Highlight - ASJY85

We are coming up on Christmas and I am so excited!  Only 12 more days to go.  I guess I can start singing the song. :)  *On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me......*
So, I have a really cute Daily Lolita Highlight for all of you today.  The thing that really caught my eye about ASJY85 is that she looks so happy and like she is having a good time.  She looks like she really loves wearing Lolita.   It is nice to see.

How cute does she look?  The parasol, bonnet, spring colors, sunny day, and sunny smile make for a happy picture.  I am not really one for bonnets but I think she pulls it off quite well and it fits her.  I also love her Innocent World bag.  I would never be able to afford a real one but there are some very nice looking replica ones that are considerably less money.

In all of her pictures she just looks like a porcelain doll and delicate.  Her coordination skills are great.  Her matching of pastels is done smartly.  I really am jealous of her hair as well.  She knows how to style it well and has a nice variety of wigs.
The above picture is from Black Alice tea party for Halloween where she dressed as a snow angel.  The light blue and white are the perfect combination of cold and ice to really pull off a snow angel.  Also, if you take away the wings it is a great co-ord that I would wear any day.  The Angelic Pretty JSK has beautiful details that catch the eye.  Tiny white pearls and silver design details on the bottom portion of the dress are super pretty.
It is really fun when Lolitas find interesting places to take pictures because they make for a great all round picture and not just a great outfit.  One thing I do not love is when girls take pictures of their outfits and you see their messy messy room in the background.  But, there is no messy room here.  Just great settings and great outfits.
A wild Lolita caught on camera.
Such cute pictures and such cute outfits.  Her wardrobe is one that I dream about owning.  I don't know if it will ever happen but I might just get that Innocent World purse.  Very pretty ASJY85.  You can click on her name to go to her original post on egl to see more pictures and get detailed outfit rundowns.

LoliGirls: The Movie!

So.  I have been waiting to see this movie for quite a while now and it just became available to watch on line within the past week or so.  The moment I saw it I watched it and again the next day.  It is nice to see a piece on Lolita that represents the style well and has done its homework.  I have seen many articles in newspapers and online, videos, and pictures that misrepresent Lolita and sometimes just get it plain wrong.
The girls who star in LoliGirls are well spoken and have a strong knowledge of Lolita.  They sum up the style of Lolita well for those who don't know what Lolita is.  They also explore price, feminism, personal feelings, and more.  It is pretty short, around 15 minutes, but it does well with its time.
I hope people who aren't into Lolita and people who have no idea what it is actually see this miniature film.  Take a peek for yourself and tell me what you think.

International Lolita Day Girlies!

On this latest International Lolita Day girls and guys went out in their frilliest best.  I didn't really have any exciting plans but I still dressed up.  We (me, my husband, and a friend) went to the Super Walmart to get some delicious cereal and buy did I get plenty of looks.  I live in Up State NY so people don't see many different things so it is to be expected.  The woman who checked me out asked my about my outfit and was very friendly and loved my dress!  Awesome!
I wanted to do a very flowery hair-do so I went to town.  Flowers in hair are so pretty.  I usually have a little bundle in my hair but I should start wearing bigger flowers as well.   I bought several large roses that are different colors at Jo-Ann's when they were on sale and I haven't done anything with them.
On Daily Lolita there were tons of beautiful Lolitas all dolled up and looking great.  Here are are some of my favorites who celebrated in style.  It is always great to see people really enjoying their style and fashion.  Quite cool. Keep it up ladies and gents.   You can click on their name to see more pictures.
