Daily Lolita Highlight- Psycho Shoujo

Most of the time when I do a daily Lolita highlight I am a little jealous, a healthy amount of jealous.  These girls (and hopefully soon some guys) are my favorites who I feel do just a great job and have a certain something that makes them special.  And that makes me a little envious and it also makes me want to be a better Lolita.  This Lolita is not different and perhaps I am even more jealous of this one.  She has an air about her that is just lovely.
Psycho Shoujo  posted her pictures from her trip to Ireland and more specifically, Dublin on St. Patty's Day.  Ireland is in the top part of my list of the countries that I would absolutely love to visit.  For some reason I feel all the people in Ireland are super friendly and kind.  I absolutely know this is not the case but I can dream.  I applaud her for not wearing all green outfits just because she is in Ireland on St. Patty's Day.  Her classic modest skirts with Gothic crosses match and embody the strong religious ties Ireland has.
I know black and white are not quite as popular as they used to be together but I love they was she has put them and herself together.  Her killer Demonia shoes (which I totally want to steal) look amazing with her corset style designed socks.  One of my favorite parts of her outfit is her headdress which she made herself.  I obviously make and wear most of the jewelry and accessories that I wear so I just love it when girls do the same.  There is something very special about a handmade piece, especially when you make it yourself.
Her long cherry coke hair and simple black eye shadow and eyeliner allow you to really appreciate her outfit.   There are times for super fun make up that is a bit over the top and sometimes you have to make it a little quieter.  I believe she made the right choice.
Along with her black and white outfit she also wore a great red Meta JSK.  She has a way of putting herself together.  She has lovely quiet outfits that are still very interesting to look at and smartly combined.
Perhaps one day I can stand in Dublin in my cute and smart Lolita dresses just  like Psycho Shoujo.  I doubt I will be quite as lovely as her though.

Selling SweetSuzette in stores

Today I ran around Saratoga Springs to see if any cute boutiques wanted to sell  my jewelry in their stores.  I loaded up with business cards, jewelry, invoice pad, and water.  A lot of the stores were cute but not quite right for my jewelry to be sold in.  My stuff is cute and light and most of the stores are cool and hip.  I left my card for the shop girls to give to the owners (when the owner was not there) and spread the word that I am trying to sell.
I did hit a good one though.  80 West!  It is a nice trendy little shop right on Broadway where there is a nice steady stream of foot traffic.  The store is still really young (1 year old) and not well known but I think there is potential there.  Mary-Lou is one of the owners and super friendly.  She agreed to sell about 30 of my pieces on commission.  I set up a little table that is all pink and cute.  Hopefully things will go well at the shop and soe of my pieces will sell.
I also got lots of compliments on my outfit today.  I went in all Lolita.  Blue Bodyline dress, white boots, blue BL bag, flowers in my hair, and  lots and lots of pearls.  I would hear "Cute Dress" from behind me and people passing by.  I always smile, wave, and say Thank You.  I like when people are nice.
Lastly, I did a whole lot of nothing on Lolita Day but I still wanted to dress all pretty.   Here is a quick shot.  My cat Bella wanted to be in the shot as well.  She always manages to hop into my pictures somehow.
I am all about lots of flowers in my hair right now.  When I do my hair every day whether or not I am going to be in Lolita I always end up putting bunches of those petals in my hair.  It must be the nice spring/summer weather.

All official like with cute business cards

For the last 2 weeks I have been designing business cards.  I made about 6 different designs and I finally came up with a finished product that I am very happy with.
I have been putting off getting business cards for no good reason.  I knew I needed them long ago but I just didn't feel like designing them I guess.  As much as I like Fashion Design, my blog, my Etsy shop, and owning my own business there are certain aspects that I don't love and tend to put on the back burner.  My business cards were one of them.  But, I am happy to say with hours of work and determination I came over my laziness and make a pretty cute business card.
I will be using these cute cards to hand out to people who like my things, give them to shop owners who I have as selling prospects, send them along with orders, and always have them with me when I talk jewelry/accessories.
 FRONT
 BACK
I am very proud.  It is cute, delicate, to the point, easy to understand, and if I need to jot down more info on the card for someone (a date, phone number, an amount of product , and/or pricing)  there is enough room on the back to do so.  I made the order for 1000 of these babies and I think I shoud get them in the mail next week some time.  Once they come in the mail I will have to show you the actual cards.  There are square (I thought I would do something a little different from the standard business card shape) and 2x2 inches.
I can' take all of the credit though.  My husband helped me by brainstorming with me, giving his opinion, and made sure that I didn't make any stupid spelling errors.
So, what do you think?  Good? Bad?

Lolita Meme Part 5

41. What types of lace do you like?
I like most lace.  Even not so good lace has a value to be used as something.

42. Do you own a doll? Does owning it give you fun, childish feelings?
I currently have my first doll on it's way to me via USPS.  I am very excited to get her.  I didn't buy  her any clothes because I will make my own for her.  I bought a blank body with a medium sized bust and a head with long blue hair just like the banner at the top of my blog.  I bought eye decals.  I have to wait 8 more days to get her though.  My husband got her for me for my birthday and I can't wait.

43. What is in your lolita bag?
Wallet with money and cards, chap stick and lip gloss, note pad, hair accessories, psp, ds, and any special items for wherever I am going.

44. What is your favourite flower?
I don't really care for flowers so much.  I don't care for the smell and I don't really see a point in them because they die so fast.

45. Right now, what is your favourite accessory?
I just made a huge pink bunny ring that I cannot wait to wear out.

46. Please recommend some cosmetics.
I have several mascaras, which I feel is one of the most important make-up items.  I like most brand and colors.

47. With eye-tape your eyes look like a doll's! What eyelashes will you wear?
Not for me.

48. What is your eye makeup for these eyelashes?
nope.

49. Red Lipstick? Blue? Black? Pink?
I tend to go with very natural colors and light pinks.  I have yet to find a bold color that looks nice on me.  No matter what I choose I always look like a small child who got into her mothers make-up bag.

50. Which nail polish do you normally choose?
I do enjoy fun nail polish colors.  I try to match my outfit if I am going all out.  Blue, pink, lavender, white, clear, and whatever strikes my fancy.

More Cake Hats!!

I sold 2 cake hats this past week!  I know this does not seem like a big deal but this is a landmark of sorts with my business.  With this selling of 2 cake hats it marks the first time that I have sold items from my Etsy shop in the same month.  Before this, all of my sales have had a month in between.  Do you know how discouraging it is to only sell one item per month.  But, I have persevered and now I am starting to see the fruits of my labor.  More people look at and favorite my Etsy shop everyday, My EGL sales are good, and I have had my first blog approach me to put me in their adds and sell my products on their blog/site.
Here are a few pictures of the new hats.  I will be selling them on EGL first in a sales post and whatever does not sell will go right up on my Esty shop.

Lolita Meme Part 4

31. What is your motto?
Ummmm,  I don't have one.  Sorry.

32. What are your dreams of the future?
I would love to have all of my debt paid off, be living in a big city (Tokyo is my number one), be established in my accessories and clothing business, have no children, have several cats, love my husband more than anything like I do now, have awesome self esteem, and be happy.

33. "This person is so perfect for lolita!" - Do you ever think that about certain celebrities?
Nope.

34. Are there any products/items of which you have with a fond memory?
I have gotton a few dresses as dresses from my husband so I would say those.

35. What was your first item?
A black dress that came from Momo's Fairytale land on Ebay.

36. Do you have a signature pose for photos?
No really.  I just try to look nice, show off my outfit, and smile.  I like to smile.

37. What is your heart's bible? [book/magazine/CD/etc...]
I love Nora Robets books.  There is so much love on them they make me feel wonderful.

38. What is the best height (cm) for heels?
Oooo.  My balance is not so great so I shoot for 2 and under.

39. Do you wear tiaras?
Nope.

40. Do you think you want to try prince style? What kind of prince? Gothic/dark prince? Or "prince on a white horse" style?
I have never really gravitated toward the Dandy style.  It's just not for me.

100 Hearts on Etsy

On Etsy people can "Heart" or favorite sellers or items.  My SweetSuzette shop now officially has 100 Hearts.  Yea!!  Every day I get 1 to 3 new people who heart me.  It feels nice when people visit my shop and feel compelled to make it one of their favorites.  It gives me validation that my things are nice.  Makes me smile and feel all warm inside.

Everyone loves cake!

My cake hats have been getting a bit of attention lately.  People on Flickr are "Favoriting" and commenting on the pictures of the cake hats and people are asking about buying them.  I really hope they become popular.  They are so darn sweet.  I can't help myself.
I sure could go for a real slice of cake right now.
