Starry Eyed Lolita - Stars in Lolita

Lolita has many constants in the aesthetic but there are always fads that come and go. Wigs are big right now, deer and fawns were popular, and head dresses used to all the rage. Amidst all these comings and goings one things that has stuck around is stars. They are everywhere in Lolita. They are popular in prints in accessories and why not? They are super cute and have really positive ideas and feelings connected to them. Stars make me think of dreams, goals, flying, wishes, light, and happiness.

Angelic Pretty is the brand that uses stars the most I believe.  They love making prints with stars sprinkled around and making jewelry with twinkling stars. So much of their jewelry looks like candy with the pretty pastel colors that they use. I love it. What I wouldn't give for every star themed piece of jewelry that they made.  Angelic Pretty always has a bit of a funky thing going on that I like. A very young and playful feeling.

As much as AP is funky, Baby the Stars Shine Bright is lovely and elegant. So much of their stuff makes me feel like a princess, like a lady. The above star necklace and rings are so pretty. The soft glowing gold, pearls, and the pink B logo go so well together. These two pieces bring together some of my favorite things in jewelry. Pearls! I love pearls. Plus, they look so good with gold and pink. Pink is my favorite color. It is so girly and goes so well with Lolita.

The infamous Chocomint Star 2-way clip. I don't know how and why it caught on like it did but Lolitas can not get enough of this clip. I kind of feel like I might be half a Lolita because I don't have one. I must admit that they are super cute. I love that it is a brooch and a hair clip. Versatility. I have been making pastel resin stars and I think they could make a cute clip like these ones. I might just make my own instead of buying the original. Why not?

Lolita bags are the best! One day when I don't wear Lolita for whatever reason I think I will still use the bags. They are just too cool. There is such a range, from sweet to goth, there are just so many to choose from. The two above are two that I would really like to own in the future. I have a small collection of Lolita bags and I don't think any of them are stars. These are made by Loris and you can pick them up on QutieLand.

Angelic Pretty Wallpaper

I was in the mood to design a Lolita wallpaper so I was browsing through my pics and scans. I found quite a few nice dresses and different things that would make a nice collage. But then, I saw a half page of Angelic Pretty stickers and it was like they already designed one for me. So, here it is. It is busy, fun, and bright.
Just click on the above image.

Simple Angelic Pretty Wallpaper

I made another wallpaper and this time it is an Angelic Pretty one.  Obviously.  I could have gone over the top with this one but I decided to do a simple design.  I want to do another one in the future and I will go a little wild with that one.
Enjoy.  I do hope you like it.

Lolita Bags that look like Books, So Cute!

We all have certain  things that we have a soft spot for and one of mine is Book Bags.  I don't have one because I don't have the money for it but one day I will and I am sure it will be amazing.  Many of the brands make their own version and I have to say, I have not seen one that I don't like.  In fact, I really want them all.

These Alice and the Pirates bags are so perfect for almost an outfit or style.  They come in a few different colors (black, brown, red, and white I believe.)  They are stiff so you can carry heavier items in them and they seem pretty sturdy.

Adorable.  Leave it to Angelic Pretty to make a pastel cake like book bag.  I am super surprised that every Sweet Lolita does not have this bag on their Daily Lolita post.  It is almost like a clock book bag.  I love the colors of light blue and creamy gold.  It is a good thing that I don't live next to any Lolita stores because I have a feeling that I would not be able to resist these bags if I saw them in person.

Another amazing AatP bag.  This one has a long chain so you can wear it from your shoulder.  It is nice when you don't have to carry your bag the whole time you have it on your person.  Sometimes you go somewhere where you want both of your hands free.  Can't you just picture this bag paired with a lovely chiffon Gothic Lolita coordinate?

Innocent World has some of the most stunning Classic Lolita clothing that you can buy (my opinion).  They have such a tasteful design style.  Very smart looks.  The book bags that they have made remind me of the old hard cover books that you find in antique shops.  It would be great if they had that old book smell too.  There is something about the smell that old books have.

If I had to choose only one bag from the above pictures I would have to choose the first Alice and the Pirates bag.  Most likely the red or white one.  What about you?  Which one would you pick?

NYC Trip Pictures and Fun

I had such a blast last week in NYC!  We went there on a mission to see and show and visit a store and we achieved our goals.  We arrived in the city around 3 or so and got settled into the hotel about 4.  Since the Prince concert started at 7:30 we had an early dinner at the Ginger House.  It is right next to The Fashion Inst. Of Tech and was 3 blocks from our hotel.  Their food is so good.  I had yummy tofu in brown sauce with white rice.

Once we were done eating my parents went back to the hotel and I went to the TD Bank to close my account that I haven't used in over 2 years.  I got my money, joined my parents, and we made out way to Madison Square Garden.  We got there around 6:30 because my mother told us that we should arrive an hour early) and Prince didn't get on stage until a little after 9.  That was a long wait.
Once the show started it was AMAZING!  The stage was his symbol and were right in the front.  He came out onto stage after about 4 and a half minutes of screaming , and he stood on top of his piano and let everyone take pictures of him for a good 45 seconds.
Once they actually started playing everyone freaked out even more.  The band played snippets of their hits and each song got the crows going more and more.  It was such a good intro.  Here is a video of the show.  He is singing his hit Purple Rain.
After the show we went back to the hotel and went to bed with ears that were ringing just a bit.  Not too bad.  In the morning we had a nice low key breakfast in the hotel, packed up, and made our way to Tokyo Rebel.  We got there right at opening time and boy was it amazing. I have never been to a store that sells brand and I was so excited to see so much Angelic Pretty up close in person. Sorry about the pictures with a haze.  I used my phone to take them and they didn't come out super great but you can still see everything.

Deco goodies!

Mags

I had such a great time looking around Tokyo Rebel.  The shop had such nice things.  A good selection of dresses, socks, bags, and a small selection of jewelry and accessories.  I really didn't have much money but I wanted to get something so I purchased a pair of Innocent World socks and a pair of Angelic Pretty wrist cuffs.  I will post pics tomorrow.
I really want to head back to NYC and Tokyo Rebel this year so maybe I will plan to take a trip with my husband.

Angelic Pretty Inspired Earrings

This past week or so I have been making earrings that are inspired by popular Angelic Pretty prints.  They are a little funky and a little different and I love them.  Check them out.  You can buy them for yourself or a friend.  Even if you don't have the print they still go with a lot of other dresses.  If you would like to purchase a pair or two just let me know in the comments.  They are $18.00 per pair and it DOES include shipping.  Not bad.  They are all available except for the Milky Berry pair but I still wanted to show them off.  I especially like the Wonder Cookie and Jewelry Jelly ones the best.
I plan on making more.  I also want to make some that are inspired by Baby prints and perhaps some by Meta and Moi-même-Moitié.  The earring hooks are silver plated but if you need sterling ones because of allergies I could get them for you no problem.  It would just be a few more dollars, like $3.00.
