Simple Angelic Pretty Wallpaper

I made another wallpaper and this time it is an Angelic Pretty one.  Obviously.  I could have gone over the top with this one but I decided to do a simple design.  I want to do another one in the future and I will go a little wild with that one.

Daily Lolita Highlight: Vysanthe

 First off, I just want to say that I want everything that Vysanthe is wearing in her Daily Lolita post.  Everything.  Vysanthe has several really lovely pieces she shows us and I am sure that the rest of her closet is full of great pieces.  

Look at her cream and maroon classic coordinate.  Her Innocent World bolero, JSK, and socks are nicely accented by her  light brown pigtails with flowers and a big bow.  With all of the Sweet out there, Classic is a nice fresh breath of air.  I also like how her pigtails hang in a natural manner.  I like more natural hair styles with Classic Lolita and this is a perfect non-fussy look. 

 Here is a picture of her and her fella (cute couple).  I am sure my husband would be jealous of his hair.  It is very nice that her significant other joins in  her love of Elegant and Gothic style.  

Wearing Angelic Pretty and carrying a frilly Baby parasol she looks adorable in front of a natural and green backdrop.  One of my favorite things to do on weekends is to get dressed in my favorite Lolita coordinate and go somewhere beautiful.  I don't get to do it often so it is always a treat.  I am one of those girls who feel Lolita needs a blouse under a JSK but if it is really hot I understand.  Plus, the parasol adds a bit of cover.  For some reason it makes the outfit a bit more modest.

Lolita Bags that look like Books, So Cute!

  We all have certain  things that we have a soft spot for and one of mine is Book Bags.  I don't have one because I don't have the money for it but one day I will and I am sure it will be amazing.  Many of the brands make their own version and I have to say, I have not seen one that I don't like.  In fact, I really want them all.  

 These Alice and the Pirates bags are so perfect for almost an outfit or style.  They come in a few different colors (black, brown, red, and white I believe.)  They are stiff so you can carry heavier items in them and they seem pretty sturdy. 

 Adorable.  Leave it to Angelic Pretty to make a pastel cake like book bag.  I am super surprised that every Sweet Lolita does not have this bag on their Daily Lolita post.  It is almost like a clock book bag.  I love the colors of light blue and creamy gold.  It is a good thing that I don't live next to any Lolita stores because I have a feeling that I would not be able to resist these bags if I saw them in person.

 Another amazing AatP bag.  This one has a long chain so you can wear it from your shoulder.  It is nice when you don't have to carry your bag the whole time you have it on your person.  Sometimes you go somewhere where you want both of your hands free.  Can't you just picture this bag paired with a lovely chiffon Gothic Lolita coordinate? 

Innocent World has some of the most stunning Classic Lolita clothing that you can buy (my opinion).  They have such a tasteful design style.  Very smart looks.  The book bags that they have made remind me of the old hard cover books that you find in antique shops.  It would be great if they had that old book smell too.  There is something about the smell that old books have.

If I had to choose only one bag from the above pictures I would have to choose the first Alice and the Pirates bag.  Most likely the red or white one.  What about you?  Which one would you pick?

The Petticoat Press - an egl Newsletter

  I love it!  I think it is such a good idea to have a weekly newsletter about Lolita.  The magazines (such as Sucrerie)  did not work out and that always made me sad.  Because, I thought we would never get another "publication" that would stick around.  I have a good feeling about The Petticoat Press though.

  It is official and done by the egl mods and other egl members.  They just released the second issue which looks to have all types of interesting and helpful links.  They touch on Halloween Sales by Lolita brands, grand openings, oodles of new releases by many brands, a tutorial, and a bit more. 

The Petticoat Press makes me feel like I want to snuggle up with my laptop and a cup of tea and read through it like a newspaper.  I really do hope it sticks around.  If the current people working on it step down lets hope that new and eager people fill the space.  I am sure it will grow and change and hopefully improve as time passes.  Good luck Petticoat Press and all of your editors!

When Lolita Gets in my Non-Lolita Internet Life

  So, a few days ago I was doing my regular rounds on I Can Has Cheeze-Burger.  I love almost all of the sites that are on there (Lol Cats, Memebase, If Style Could Kill, Must Have Cute, and Poorly Dressed are amongst my favs).  I reached the bottom of the page that I was reading and this is what I saw.  Something jumped out at me.

That pink and yellow outfit looked familiar to me.  I clicked on the link so I could further investigate.  I had seen this picture before on Egl if I am not mistaken.  I believe it wasn't very well received for a few reasons.  This time the picture was picked up and posted on Poorly Dressed.  

The title of this post is Are You Sure You Have Enough Bows.  Which does make sense.  There are quite a few of them.  I am not going to weigh in on my feelings on her outfit.  That is not why I am doing this post.  I am writing this because the only time I see Lolita on-line is when I seek it out  visiting my regular Lolita sites (egl, blogs, daily lolita, ect.).  It takes me by surprise when I find Lolita when I don't seek it out, whether it is positive or negative. 

There have been other times when I see Lolita in my normally Lolita-free internet.  

Above is a picture from People of Walmart.  It regularly depicts people who are dressed inappropriately, barely covered, and horribly dressed.  I was very surprised when I saw this picture.  She is a very nicely put together Lolita.  Most of the people in the comments come to her rescue and defend her.  Very nice.  I believe it got posted because she looks different.  (Also, the title of the post is Eating Her Curds and Whey, which is a Little Miss Muffet reference.  I have been called Little Miss Muffet on more than one occasion when in Lolita and I am sure I am not the only one.)

This picture I think is the best representation of Lolita on the non-Lolita internet.  It is from The Sartorialist.  The blog is just pictures by a fashion photographer.  This is the only picture of a Lolita on his site.   He doesn't say anything about it, he just displays it for others to see.  It was nice to see a good picture of a Lolita and have it come off in a positive way.   

There have been other times I have seen Lolita on the wild internet.  It is just few and far between.  Most of the time I kind of wish they would stay pretty separate but I know that is impossible.  Lolita is growing and as it does there will be more and more overlap.  I will just embrace it and hope for the best.

Alice and the Pirates Wallpaper

  I have getting into making Lolita themed wallpapers because I haven't really been finding many that I am crazy about.  I made this one because I wanted something subtle and easy on the eyes.  I don't own any of the original content.  It came from an issue of the Gothic & Lolita Bible. 

There will be more wallpapers coming.  They are fun to make and it is nice to add them to the collective pool of Lolita Wallpapers.  I do hope you enjoy this one and all the future ones coming as well.

Daily Lolita Highlight: Karmamaedchen

  This Daily Lolita Highlight I think is a bit of a special one.  With all of the others, there have been multiple pictures.  This post only has one picture and one is enough.  Karmamaedchen caught my eye with her beautifully coordinated outfit and her finishing touches of lovely hair and make up.  So, here we go.  The picture that caught my attention.

You can click to see the larger version if you so please.  Now, don't you agree?  Lovely.  Her Atelier Pierrot JSK, multi-strap shoes, parasol, and simple hair and make up really set a mood.  There is nothing here that I don't like.  I have been leaning towards Gothic Lolita and Kuro for a while now and I want to steal this look in a big way.  

The older I get the more I turn from my Sweet Lolita ways.  I don't believe that Sweet is just for younger people but I do think Gothic is a nice transition for a more mature Lolita.  

I am not sure that I have ever see this Atelier Pierrot JSK but it has captured my heart.  I guess it is just another piece that I will have to lust after.

Super Cute Lolita Stationary

  This isn't brand new but it is still really pretty and perhaps some of you missed it.  Deviant Art artist Dark Devi made a design for your next Lolita letter.  I don't send much snail mail but this will give me an excuse to.

  She posted it on EGL a few months ago and I loved it when I saw it.  She said that she did it because she got a nice new pen and wanted to use it.  I think it is serving her well.  I know what she means though.  Whenever I get new art supplies, sewing supplies, or any other new things I can't wait to use them.. And, they make for good inspiration. 

It must have taken her a bit of time to finish this piece.  There is so much detail in the whole thing.  The lace and ribbon along the top is so real looking.  The girl as well has pretty details to her.  Her hair, stockings, and blouse have many fine ruffles and ribbons.  Lovely.

Lolita Up Do's

  I have pretty long hair and I like to wear it up.  Buns, braids, pig tails, pony tails, and more.  Since I get to wear Lolita everyday I try to make my hair styles match well but I don't want to spend a lot of time on doing my hair.  The only times I really spend a considerable amount of time on my hair is on the weekend.  Even though I have so much love for wearing my hair up I find I don't like pigtails all that much anymore.  If this was me from 4 years ago I would be singing pig tail praises.  Since I am getting a little older I find wearing them with Lolita starts to look like age play a bit.  Too 8 year old. 

Looking on Daily Lolita I see the majority of people wear either full wavy wigs that are in pig tails or just down.  Both are super pretty but it is nice to see things that are different as well.  Looking through the latest Gothic and Lolita Bible I saw quite a few up do's that really caught my eye.  I might even steal some of them and use the styles for myself.  Here are some of my favs!

I think i might be able to do most of these styles without bringing fake hair into the situation.  The top one would need some fake hair though.  That style has some height and weight.  Perhaps I will attempt all of these (and other styles from the GL&B).  

So, break out of the Lolita mold and try some nice up do's.  We don't all need long wavy hair w/ bangs.

Elf Cosmetics

  Last weekend I went to the local Target just for fun and found something new and interesting in the cosmetic section.  They now have a small section of Elf products.  I had never heard of them but boy was I excited to see what I saw.  CHEAP cosmetics.  Like, there were many things that were only $1a piece.  I got so excited that I grabbed a bunch of things and made a make shift basket out of my new shirt that I was buying.  The selection that they had was not super huge but there was enough to make me happy.  Here is the haul.

I love getting new makeup brushes.  These ones were just $1 a piece and not bad.  The large one (on top) is very nice and I use it to even out the cover up and eye primer.  The small brush (the bottom) is for cover up as well but I am going to be using it for my eyes/eyeshadow.  The small brush came apart though.  I had to glue it back together.  No big deal.

About 2 months ago I looked EVERYWHERE for a nice eye primer and could not find any or I found one that was way too expensive.  When I saw this one I snatched it up fast.  It has a nice consistency to it and blends in well.  Ever since I saw a good make up tutorial on YouTube I have wanted eye primer and now I have some.  Yea!

I bought this color stick thinking it was pinker than the actual color.  It is a gold/bronze color and it does not really look good on my skin tone.  I night give it away to a friend.

Just like the eye primer I looked everywhere for a light shimmer.  Elf to the rescue.  I find a tiny bit of shimmer on the tip of my nose and the dip just above my top lip make me look dewy and healthy.

 

I haven't really gotten into the whole fake eyelash thing.  I rub my eyes too much to really wear a lot on my eyes.  I have to use all my willpower not to rub off my eyeshadow and mascara.  I think this weekend I will try going all out with falsies and all.  These ones were only $1 so I figured that if they came off in 10 minutes it wasn't a huge loss.

This was a build your own eyeshadow pallet.  It came with 4 empty spots.  The pallet w/ mirror and applicator was only $1.  Each eyeshadow color was also $1.  I chose a basic black and white.  I like to use the white as a highlighting color to brighten up my eyes and I use the black as an eye liner to make my lashes fuller.  The pink and lavender are 2 regular colors that get used on an almost daily basis.

Lastly, I got a nice simple mirror for my bag.  It was one dollar and should serve me well.
