Mascara Reiew Cover Girl Exact Eyelights

I have had this specific mascara for a little less than a year and it is a good one.  Sometime in early 2009 I did a make-up overhaul and bought a new batch of lip glosses, eye shadows, mascaras, blushes, eye liners, cover up, and random make-up items.  In this batch of new make-up items I snagged this mascara.

The claim for this mascara is that it will make your eyes look brighter and more colorful due to the metallic tint.  I have blue eyes so I bought the Black Sapphire tube for around $6.00, that is a price point that I can get
behind.
                                                  Before                                                After

As you can see there is a difference with my eyelashes.  They look longer and they look a little darker.  I have a hard time telling if the metallic tint actually does anything or if it is just a gimmick.  I do like the mascara consistency, it is nice and smooth and does not clump at all.  The brush is not the "bristley" kind that has lots of separate fibers.  It has a rubber brush with rows of tiny rubber digits.
All in all this is a good mascara that does not smudge when I rub my eyes, it does not clump, has a good consistency, and was a good price.  But,  I just don't see the "eye brightening" that they claim will happen.

Happy Birthday to me!

It was my birthday on the 18th of this month and my awesome husband basically let me pink out all of my presents.  One of the things I had been wanting for a while is a doll.  More specifically, a Volks doll.  I love how pretty they are and I really love how you match them to you.  Matching hair, clothes, and accessories.  So, I got the blank body, head with blue hair, and decal eyes.  She is completely blank as of right now but I am currently in the process of sewing her a blouse and I will cute her hair and style as soon as I have an outfit complete for her.
She has the longest blue hair.  So cute.  I have to name her and as soon as she has clothes and is all ready to go i will post pictures of her.
Perhaps a few suggestions for a name for her?  Something cute, of course.  Give me your ideas.  What would be a good name for her?  Comment and tell me.

Sucrerie Magazine is now a blog

Sucrerie Magazine is no longer a mag but is now a blog.  This is a bitter sweet jump for me.  I loved looking forward to it coming out every 3 months but now it is updated very often and you can read it multiple times a week .  I look forward to making it part of my daily rounds of Lolita and cute cat blogs.

Daily Lolita Highlight

As a Lolita one of my favorite things is looking at the Daily Lolita on livejournal. I love seeing what outfits girls are wearing, how they are putting together coordinates, hair styles, gorgeous make-up, and cute accessories.  I have decided to highlight some of my favorites once or twice a week.  This first Lolita caught my eye because of her awesome wig (which I totally want to steal).  Introducing Meow_tan.
This is an example of a Lolita taking a few risks and pulling it off pretty well.  I like how she mixed cotton candy colors (blue, pink, lavender) together with black and white.  She kind of reminds me of a funky Pullip doll.  Her outfit is a hodge-podge of brand, off brand, and everything else.  The core of her outfit is the adorable Angelic Pretty skirt, which has all of the colors that she pulled from.
Her make-up is super pretty.  I love her big doll eyes that are accented by tiny rhinestones of pink and blue.    I am not one to wear fake lashes but her eyes look amazing and so big with those falsies on, it makes me want to give them another try.
                                                                 Super cute Meow-tan!

Mascara review

I am not a huge make-up person but one thing I do love is mascara.  I have scoured countless stores to find the perfect mascara and still have not found the perfect one.  So, I will be reviewing any new mascara that I get so perhaps you girls can benefit from my adventures in mascara.
Last night I had to pink up a few things so I ventured to the make-up section and picked up MAYBELLINE'S New York XXL Extensions mascara.  I paid $10.00 for it but you might be able to find it for a little less.  It is one of the mascaras that has 2 wands, one on each end.  The claim for this one is that it will "tame" your unruly lashes and then  lengthens.
I bought Black because I have pretty dark hair, eyelashes, and  eyebrows.  I rarely buy brown mascara but I love to pink up fun colors like blues, greens, and pink for fun.

Here is my eyelashes with nothing on
I think I have pretty eyelashes that are long and have average fullness.  But, I want really full and really long without using falsies.  I was hoping this might be the mascara to do it.  First I did step number one; Tame Lashes.
Lashes Tamed
The trick now is to use the black mascara right after you use the tamer.  You want the white taming mascara to still be wet when you out the next layer on.  (I find it dries kind of quick so I sometimes have a hard time getting in on quick enough.)
Black Mascara
Not bad, eh?  There is a noticeable difference here.

Before and After
All in all I would say this mascara is a good mascara but nothing earth shattering.  I am not sure if the taming part actually helps or if it is just a gimmick.  It also dries to fast for me and can cause a bit of clumping.  The black is a very dark black which I like.  $10.00 is a little much for me.  I prefer $8.00 and under.

I give it 7 out of 10 hearts.

Lolita Meme Part 10 ( and the final installment)

91. "One day I will go on a date with that person." What would you like to wear for him?
Something cute.  But, I haven't been on a "date" in about 7 years.

92. If you want one, what type of store would you open in the future?
I had planned on having my own brick and mortar store before I finished my degree in Fashion Design but changed my mind while I was doing an internship in a gorgeous bridal gown shop.  While I was there I learned of all the non fashion design aspects of owning your own business and I just don't want much of that at all.
If I was to have my own shop I would have a fully outfitted staff to run the shop, manage, and work in.  It would sell Lolita clothing (brand and off brand), accessories, and any other Lolita items.

93. Something catches your eye. What is this motif?
I do love kittens and bunnies.

94. Would you dress your child in Lolita?

I don't' have children, I don't want children, and I will nev
er have children.

95. How much do you spend on one outfit?
$250ish.  This includes a could brand pieces, off brand, and self made.

96. "This is lolita!!" Please say what you would say this about.
I find the accessories to be very important when it comes to an outfit.

97. "I have always wanted to try that once!" What, in the lolita world, have you wanted to try wearing?
I guess I have wanted to try full on Gothic Lolita just like Mana.  That is not my style what so ever but he/she just looks so good in it.

98. Look at yourself in Lolita. In one word/phrase, how would you express your style/image?
Cute shrimp.

99. What is your lolita ideal?
Nicely put together, clean, matching, cute boots, long hair, and a pretty smiling face.

100. Thank you for taking this baton!! Tell us what you think!
I am very happy that I did it in parts.

Holy Moly!  That was so long.  I can't believe some people did that all in one sitting.  It took alot time for  me to do the 10 questions.

Lolita Meme Part 9

81. How do you dress normally?

Lolita is the norm for now.  When I dress a certain way I embrace it whole heartedly.  I have never been a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl.  Even on days when I am going casual I wear a Lolita skirt, a casual blouse or top, and knee high boots.  That is just me.

82. Do you think twice about buying second-hand clothes?
Not really.   Most of my Lolita wardrobe is second hand that I bought on the EGL sales page.  I have a few items from Ebay and F+F that are new.   I have never gotten any brand that is new.  I do want to get a Lucky pack in the next round.

83. Do you have a boyfriend? (or husband?) Does he understand lolita?
I am married to awesme husband who totally gets me and loves me no matter what.  He enjoys Lolita but he has stated on several occasions that he wished I dressed sexier.  Lolita and sex do not mix.  Perhaps I will have to buy some Punky Hangry and Angry clothes, he would like them

84. Please tell us about your ideal man.
When I was a teenager my ideal man was a handsom Japanese man who was a snazzy dresser, super nice, had a great sense of humor, and loved me more than anything.  I have pretty much this guy in my husband minus the Japanese.  I married into a big Italian family.  Although he is not Japanese his is something else that I really like in some guys.  He is bald.  I love love love bald guys.  Not balding, a spot of bald, combover balding.  Bald.  I love completely smooth, no hair, bald.

85. What lolita has left a big, shiny impression on you so far?
None so far.  I tend not to see many Lolita girls.

86. Have you made your own clothes? What are they like?
I love to make my own clothes.  I find I don't spend quite as much time sewing as I should.  I love to sew Lolita clothing.  All of the ruffles are so much fun.

87. Have you made your own accessories? What did you make?
Oh boy yes I do!  I have my own shop.  Anything and everything.  Rings, necklaces, hats, headbands, bracelets, brooches, and beyond.

88. Think about the best item you have made! What is it?
A red and white dress that I made for my honey moon.  We went on a cruise to Bermuda and it was so much fun walking around the ship in my fancy red and white dress.  I got oodles of compliments and nice comments from all of the old people.

89. Please tell us about the most perfect lolita coordination you wear?  I love to wear my blue Baby dress with all white accessories.  It looks very snazzy plus I look nice in blue with my pale skin and dark hair.
90. Do you admire someone? What are they like?
Zoe Deschanel.  She is an actress (500 Days of Summer, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, and Yes Man) and a singer (She and Him with M. Ward).  She is a girl in her mid twenties who has got it together.  She is pretty, nice dresser, nice voice, talent, and she seems to be very nice.

Lolita Meme Part 8

71. What age should you stop wearing lolita?
I think you should wear it until it doesn't suit your taste anymore.  Age should not be a factor in wearing Lolita.  There are different styles of Lolita for different people.  I am in my mid twenties and love sweet Lolita so much.  But, soon this will not be the style for me.  If I am still into Lolita in a few years then I will move onto Classic.

72. When do you think you should graduate from lolita? And why?
When it suits you to change.

73. "You should stop doing that!!! >_<" What must a lolita not do?
I think when you wear Lolita you should try and represent the best of Lolita.  Be polite, kind, considerate, and an all-round a decent human being.

74. "A lolita should be 'this'!" What do you think that should be?
  The same as the above.

75. Besides #73, is there anything you should definitely not do while wearing lolita?
  Be rude.

76. What do you think of men in lolita?
I think it is great.  Lolita should not be exclusive to girls.  Why should guys not be able to join the fun.

77. Did you change yourself to be a lolita?
Not especially.  I have always been polite, liked pink and girly things, and loved different styles of clothing.  The only real big difference is that i wear a little bit more make-up and spend a little more time on my hair.

78. What does your family and other people think of you dressing lolita? And do you accept it?
For my family it was just par for the course.  They just thought I bought a new dress.  I would have to go to extremes to weird my family out with clothing.  They like the dresses that I wear and my style.  Most of my family is pretty accepting and liberal so they enjoy the Lolita style.

79. How do you wear lolita in the boiling mid-summer?
Air conditioning.

80. Have you gone to school or work in lolita?
I am done with school and have been so I don't wear it there and at my place of employment I have an ensemble that I have to wear.  This leaves little time to wear Lolita during the week.

You gotta spend money to make money, right?

Today I made a couple of purchases.  I am constantly writing down little notes, dates, and reminders and I finally buckled and bought a 2010 planner.  I have a small notebook that I use at work to remember dates and such but I needed something to keep me organized.  I scoured the internet and this is what I came up with.

It is the perfect combination of pink, kitties, and adorable.  The inside is very nice also.   It has all the features I want and need.  Monthly, Weekly, Daily, and notes.

I also bought a few display items for my jewelry and accessories.  A seller on Etsy is having a February sale where if you buy $25 dollars in items you get a free earrings display.  I love to get free things so I used this as an opportunity to get a few things.  I bought a white necklace display, 3 ring displays, and a ring/bracelet display.  with shipping they came to $40.00.  Not bad, eh?  It will be fun using them for my pictures.  I feel a little bit like a professional now.   I have a half way decent camera, a lighting box and lights, displays, nice jewelry to sell, a knowledge in Photoshop, and a shop on Etsy.

I will have to post pictures of the planner and displays once I get them.  I expect them to shop up in about a week or so.

Lolita Meme Part 7

61. "Man, what a rip-off!!" Have you ever thought that about a store?

Yes.  I do know alot of time, effort, supply, and thought goes into each design but sometimes I feel a piece can be overpriced.  Especially when I can look at a dress and estimate that I would charge $250 for it and they are selling it for $600.

62. Do you shop online? If so, put the good & bad points here to advise others.
All my shopping is done on-line.  All of my Lolita purchases are done on the egl sales page.  I like a good prices, the nice people, the ever updating page, and the anticipation the package.

63. Is there a secret person/shop that you have commissioned a dress just for you from?
Nope.

64. "I can never have that/see that happening!! But I will always want it!!" Is there a brand you think this of?
Some of the AP fairy pieces with the light pink chiffon.  So pretty but just a little young for me.  they are like beautiful costumes.

65. What do you do with the clothes you don't want anymore?
I sell them on the egl sales page.

66. What is your most recent purchase? (Even non-lolita.)
A BTSSB head bow that I got for $15!  And it's mint!

67. Is there an item you love that you can't buy/seem to find?
Not yet.

68. What do you think of people who only wear lolita to concerts?
That is fine.  People can wear what they like when they like.  I am not the clothing police.  I just tend to get a little sweaty at shows so you have the chance of getting pit stains on your nice dress.

69. What do you think of lolitas without makeup?
That is perfectly fine with me.  I personally never leave the house without a bare minimum on my face (cover my blemishes and mascara).  Make-up adds to the drama of Lolita but if a girl feels pretty without it, all the more power to her.

70. Another lolita is wearing the same coordinate/clothes as you!! What do you do?
Twinsies!!!

Lolita Meme Part 6

Whoo baby!  Half way through the meme.  This is alot of information to share.  I wonder if anyone is actually reading these or if I am just writing these for myself.  I am still waiting for my first Google Follower.  I actaully had a dream last tnight that I got my first 2 and they left comments on one of my posts.  I was so excited.  I ran around the house (in my dream) and told my husband about it.  One day I hope this happens for real.  Now, onto the Meme that hopefully someone is reading.

51. Have you ever changed in a train station bathroom?

No.  I have done some costume changing in a bathroom in a convention center.

52. What do you think of "twin" and "triplet" lolitas?
I personally love it.  I especially love it when they do it in diffent color schemes.  It's so cute to see 2 or 3 girls all wearing the same outfit and all holding hands.

53. How do you keep in shape for lolita? Recommend something.
Oh goodnss.  I should be very fit but I am not.  I work at a YMCA but I work at the front desk so I spend most of my time sitting at a computer.  My husband is starting P90X so I want to get back into DDR while he is doing that.  I was on a diet and doing DDR everyday for quite some time a few years ago and it was working wonders.

54. Do you keep calm when you wear lolita alone in public?
Most definetley.  I have always dressed however I have wanted and not what is cool or even socially acceptable.  Before I wore Lolita I plenty of looks, stares, and comments.  Now, it is the same but I just get asked if I am in a play more often.

55. How much do you spend per month on clothes/accessories?
Well.  I actually try to spend as little as possible.  I am in massive debt so sewing my own clothes and making my own jewelry is how I roll.

56. Was there a time lag between knowing about lolita and dressing in the fashion?
Yes.  I was dressing in Lolita style for about 2 years before I officaly knew about it.

57. What is your most expensive lolita item?
I have to say my baby blue Baby dress.  I only paid $100 for it but that is enough to count as expensive for me.
58. It takes a lot of money to be a lolita. How do you save?
I have a jar that I throw coins, $1's, and $5's into.  Whenever I have money floating around in my bag, car, or desk I just through it in there.  I also sell my wares online.  All of my work money goes towards credit cards, student loans, gas, groceries, pets, and any other lving expense.

59. Just a little secret here... How much have you spent so far on lolita, roughly?
Let me see.  When all is said and done it is close to $1500.

60. Is there a brand shop you want near where you live?
Any.  Please please please come to NYC.  I live about 3 hours away and I would make the drive no problem and toss all of my money at any brand that came near me.  It is probably good that there isn't.  It wouldn't help with my "saving money" absolution.

Lolita Meme Part 5

41. What types of lace do you like?
I like most lace.  Even not so good lace has a value to be used as something.

42. Do you own a doll? Does owning it give you fun, childish feelings?
I currently have my first doll on it's way to me via USPS.  I am very excited to get her.  I didn't buy  her any clothes because I will make my own for her.  I bought a blank body with a medium sized bust and a head with long blue hair just like the banner at the top of my blog.  I bought eye decals.  I have to wait 8 more days to get her though.  My husband got her for me for my birthday and I can't wait.

43. What is in your lolita bag?
Wallet with money and cards, chap stick and lip gloss, note pad, hair accessories, psp, ds, and any special items for wherever I am going.

44. What is your favourite flower?
I don't really care for flowers so much.  I don't care for the smell and I don't really see a point in them because they die so fast.

45. Right now, what is your favourite accessory?
I just made a huge pink bunny ring that I cannot wait to wear out.

46. Please recommend some cosmetics.
I have several mascaras, which I feel is one of the most important make-up items.  I like most brand and colors.

47. With eye-tape your eyes look like a doll's! What eyelashes will you wear?
Not for me.

48. What is your eye makeup for these eyelashes?
nope.

49. Red Lipstick? Blue? Black? Pink?
I tend to go with very natural colors and light pinks.  I have yet to find a bold color that looks nice on me.  No matter what I choose I always look like a small child who got into her mothers make-up bag.

50. Which nail polish do you normally choose?
I do enjoy fun nail polish colors.  I try to match my outfit if I am going all out.  Blue, pink, lavender, white, clear, and whatever strikes my fancy.

More Cake Hats!!

I sold 2 cake hats this past week!  I know this does not seem like a big deal but this is a landmark of sorts with my business.  With this selling of 2 cake hats it marks the first time that I have sold items from my Etsy shop in the same month.  Before this, all of my sales have had a month in between.  Do you know how discouraging it is to only sell one item per month.  But, I have persevered and now I am starting to see the fruits of my labor.  More people look at and favorite my Etsy shop everyday, My EGL sales are good, and I have had my first blog approach me to put me in their adds and sell my products on their blog/site.
Here are a few pictures of the new hats.  I will be selling them on EGL first in a sales post and whatever does not sell will go right up on my Esty shop.

Lolita Meme Part 4

31. What is your motto?
Ummmm,  I don't have one.  Sorry.

32. What are your dreams of the future?
I would love to have all of my debt paid off, be living in a big city (Tokyo is my number one), be established in my accessories and clothing business, have no children, have several cats, love my husband more than anything like I do now, have awesome self esteem, and be happy.

33. "This person is so perfect for lolita!" - Do you ever think that about certain celebrities?
Nope.

34. Are there any products/items of which you have with a fond memory?
I have gotton a few dresses as dresses from my husband so I would say those.

35. What was your first item?
A black dress that came from Momo's Fairytale land on Ebay.

36. Do you have a signature pose for photos?
No really.  I just try to look nice, show off my outfit, and smile.  I like to smile.

37. What is your heart's bible? [book/magazine/CD/etc...]
I love Nora Robets books.  There is so much love on them they make me feel wonderful.

38. What is the best height (cm) for heels?
Oooo.  My balance is not so great so I shoot for 2 and under.

39. Do you wear tiaras?
Nope.

40. Do you think you want to try prince style? What kind of prince? Gothic/dark prince? Or "prince on a white horse" style?
I have never really gravitated toward the Dandy style.  It's just not for me.

21. What are your hobbies?
I love to sew, make jewelry, play video games, cook/bake, draw, play around on the internet, and read.

22. If you have any favourite perfumes, please tell us.
I don't tend to wear perfume.  I wear a strawberry scented body spray if the mood strikes me.

23. Is there anything you are careful of in lolita?
I try not to get them dirty.   I usually fail too.

24. Do you have any favourite haunts to go to in lolita?
Anywhere and everywhere.

25. How many times a week do you dress lolita?
2ish.  Usually just on the weekends.  I do wear a Lolita jacket and use a Lolita purse though everyday.

26. Please tell us an embarrassing story from when you were a lolita beginner.
Oh boy, I might have to come back to this one.  I can't think of anything.

27. What is your current hairstyle and colour?
I have long dark brown hair that goes past my bust.  I love short cute bangs so I have been sporting them for about 9 years now.

28. What is your lolita history?
I first saw Lolita in 2005 and did not wear it until 2007.

29. Do you store your clothes in a special place?
I have a pretty large closet so I have all my dresses placed along the wall of the closet so I see all of my dresses the moment I open it.  All of my skirt, blouses, and accessories are hung in the closet too.

30. Did you ever think about quitting lolita? What was the reason?
Not really.  My husband is ready for me to move on to my next taste in fashion but so far Lolita is good for me and I will be sticking with it.

Lolita Meme Part 2

Here is the second installment of the Lolita Meme.

11. What do you hate about it? Any pet peeves?
I really don't appreciate all the random people with their snarky and rude comments.  I also am not a fan of the time that it takes to get all dolled up.  i am good if it takes me 45 minutes, anything longer I tend to get bored.

12. What lolita magazines do you read?
G&L Bibles,  Kira, Sucrerie,  and random bits.

13. Headdresses, bonnets or ribbons/hairbows?
Oooo.  Bows, Headbands, clips, barrettes, ribbons, and anything else I can put in my hair and on my head.  I just can't do bonnets though.  They are just not for me.

14. Do you wear bloomers?
Well, I feel like I should but I tend not to.

15. Do you tie headdresses at the front or in the back?
Mostly in back.

16. Who is your favourite band/type of music?
I love love Freezepop, Main Drag, Vampire Weekend, and many more.

17. What is your phone ring tone~?
Sailor moon!

18. Do you go to concerts in lolita?
Yup.  I tend to hang in the back at shows now so wearing Lolita is pretty easy.  I used to be in the front row all the time and with that comes being squished big time.  That makes for a sad petti.

19. For people who attend concerts: do you headbang there?
Nope.  I don't go to those kinds of shows.

20. What colours do you like?
Pink.  I love pink and yellow most of all.
